There are four types of Japanese government-sponsored scholarships supported by Kochi University, as shown below: Name of Scholarship Period of Application Monthly Amount（Yen） Period of Scholarship Eligibility Method of Applying Japanese Government（Monbukagakusho）Scholarship Student（University Recommendation） （Research Students） October of the previous year Non-degree research student：143,000 Master’s course student: 144,000 Doctoral course student: 145,000 Master’s course, Doctoral course Students who apply from overseas with GPA of 2.30 or above in the two years prior to application Application should be made from overseas Japanese Government（Monbukagakusho）Scholarship Student（Embassy Recommendation） （Research Students） Differs from country to country Non-degree research student：143,000 Master’s course student: 144,000 Doctor’s course student: 145,000 Master’s course, Doctoral course   Japanese Government（Monbukagakusho）Scholarship Student（University Recommendation） （Japanese Studies Students） January of the previous year 117,000 one year Applicants must be undergraduates at non-Japanese universities in fields related to Japanese language or culture at the time of arrival and departure from Japan Japanese Government（Monbukagakusho）Scholarship Student（Embassy Recommendation）  （Teacher Training Students） Differs from country to country  143,000 Maximum 1 year 6 months Refer to Japanese Embassy Application guideline Japanese Government（Monbukagakusho）Scholarship Student （Research Student） October of the previous year Master’s course student: 144,000 Doctor’s course student: 145,000 Master’s course, Doctoral course Privately financed fourth-year undergraduate students expected to advance to a Master&＃39;s program with a GPA of 2.50 or above in the two years prior to application Privately financed students can apply ※ Monthly amounts are subject to change.   （2）Japan Student Services Association Scholarship（JASSO） The “Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students” is for international students with outstanding scholastic and personal quality who are experiencing financial difficulty. The “Student Exchange Support Program（Scholarship for Short-Term Study in Japan）” is for international students from partner universities who come to study at Kochi University for a short term（between three months and a year）.
