Japan's ability to compete in DX will determine its position in the global economy, in particular in Asia. In this BBL, Dr. Ulrike SCHAEDE, a Professor at University of California San Diego and author of the Book "The Business Reinvention of Japan - How to make sense of the New Japan and why it matters" (winner of the 37th Ohira Memorial Prize) will share her analysis of how DX is providing an opportunity for Japanese business to reinvent themselves, and the challenges and necessary moves for success going forward. Information Time and Date: 12:15-13:15, Friday, October 15, 2021 Venue: Online Language: English Admission: Free Hosts: Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) Speakers Speaker: Ulrike SCHAEDE (Professor of Japanese Business, University of California, San Diego) Ulrike Schaede is professor, Japanese business, at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at UC San Diego. She is the founding director of the (JFIT), the Japan Forum for Innovation and Technology, and the faculty coordinator of the International Management track at GPS. Her 2020 book "The Business Reinvention of Japan: How to Make Sense of the New Japan and Why It Matters" (Stanford University Press 2020) won the 2021 Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Prize from Japan, as well as the 2021 U.S. Axiom Business Book Award (silver medal, "Economics"). She is also the author of Choose and Focus: Japanese Business Strategies for the 21st Century (Cornell UP), and co-author of "Creating Ambidextrous Organizations: Exploration and Exploitation for Overcoming Inertia" (Eiji Shuppan 2020, in Japanese). She has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and company case studies.
