Columbia endorses the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, of which our host country, Japan, is a signatory. We rely on preventative practices to reduce risk and ensure child safeguarding and will respond effectively to situations that are harmful to our students and our school community.   It is the goal of the Columbia International School to maintain a school environment for all students free from abuse. All Columbia International School employees share a collective responsibility for the safety of Columbia students. No Columbia employee may engage in any activity constituting abuse. All outside contractors or volunteers who act in a teaching or supervisory role with students receive Child Safeguarding training. Columbia International School employees must report to the School Principal, or School Nurse any suspected abuse that takes place either in or out of school. Columbia’s Child Safeguarding Policy is reviewed and shared annually.
