[Policy Statement] In principle, all classes of credit-bearing GLA courses have a capacity of 25 students, except for the following courses. GLA 3001 Research Seminar GLA 1182, 1282, and 1382 Internship 1, 2 and 3 Other courses determined by the college [Exceptions] Students may request an over-capacity registration when all the conditions below are covered. 1. When Cohort A students are in the 8th semester or beyond or Cohort B students are in the 4th semester at RU and have not yet fulfilled the minimum number of credits required in the college’s requirement categories. 2. All courses to fulfill the remaining requirements have already reached the capacity of 25 students by the end of the Regular Registration Periods, or courses that are still open time-conflict other courses students must register for to graduate. The college holds a right to instruct students to rearrange their plans of courses when possible instead of approving the over-capacity exception. 3. As a consequence of #2, students cannot register for courses to fulfill the remaining requirements and expect to graduate at the end of the semester. If students want to request an over-capacity registration due to conditions #1-3 above, they must complete the following procedure. Note that an academic advisor and relevant administrator in the GLA Office must verify coverage of all conditions #1-3. [Procedure to Request Exceptions] 1. Students experiencing conditions #1-3 after the Regular Registration Periods must contact the Academic Advising Center by the end of the application period for Optional Registration to request an over-capacity registration through the Advising General Inquiry Form via the college website. Students will automatically agree by submitting this request that their information, including, but not limited to, their academic progress and registration status, will be shared with relevant parties, such as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Manager of the GLA Office, College Registrar, the course instructor, and/or appropriate parties who need to be involved. 2. An academic advisor will review students’ academic records to confirm students’ eligibility within two (2) business days, including the last day of the application period for Optional Registration. 3. If an over-capacity registration is deemed necessary and approved, the GLA Office will adjust the capacity of the course in question and register students.
