Shizuoka University Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation menu JPN Home About Outline Dean’s Message Addressing the Sets of Future Challenges Three Courses Our Faculty Education Educational Features Curriculum Study abroad Fieldwork Learning Advisor Career Learning Advisor The Faculty has a “Learning Advisor” system to provide detailed support and guidance for all aspects of each student’s education from their first year through final year. A full-time faculty member serves as an advisor meeting with each student individually four times a year, providing them with advice while discussing anything from course planning to general student life. Their discussions often entail the following: Course registration Course registration model Academic process in the curriculum Course selection Research laboratory / Seminar Career path such as employment, graduate schools, etc. Change in student status (Leave of absence, withdrawal, etc.) Advice and guidance on poor academic performance Counseling on university life In particular, the first year students receive support and guidance on the items 1 to 3 above so that they can study independently within the complex academic process of integrating the humanities and sciences. Students in the second year are assisted especially on item 4 to receive specialized education with enthusiasm, and the third year students are especially aided on items 5 and 6. In addition, students are able to obtain advice on certificates and qualifications throughout their four year trajectory as a part of item 3 above.
