The planned enrollment capacities are 180 for the undergraduate college, 20 for the master's program, and five for the doctoral program. Treating design studies as its own discipline and based on the pursuit of new future-oriented design studies and the technology and sensibility of art, we envision the development of education and research that transcends the natural sciences and the humanities and social sciences at Kinugasa Campus, which is located in the historical and cultural city of Kyoto. Transcending the borders of Kinugasa Campus, we view the community and society at large as a "learning place." By providing diverse learning opportunities in the world beyond the campus and cooperating with companies and society, we aim to engage in creative expression related to the development of a sustainable society for the future. Furthermore, we plan to introduce a virtual campus that utilizes online, on-demand, and virtual spaces in addition to real-world spaces to create a more flexible and higher-dimensional learning environment suitable for a diverse society. By way of education and research at the tentatively named College of Arts and Design and Graduate School of Science in Arts and Design, we will instill in our students a creative and flexible mindset that, underpinned by aesthetic sensibilities, comprehensively incorporates problem-solving skills, the ability to reframe questions, co-creation skills, the ability to identify problems, and creative thinking. We aim to cultivate talented individuals who can embody the ideal vision of a future society with cultural and social living patterns imbued with creativity as well as highly specialized professionals and researchers who can harness their aesthetic sensibilities to create a future society where the physical extends into the digital and the two worlds are integrated together. An Establishment Committee set up within the university is currently working on a faculty organization development plan and has begun recruiting faculty members. The committee is working out the details of this plan on an accelerated pace in preparation for the opening of the new college and graduate school in April 2026. ■Outline of the College of Arts and Design (tentative name) Name College of Arts and Design Date of Establishment April 2026 Enrollment Capacity 180 Intake Capacity 720 Degree Name Bachelor of Arts and Design Fields of Study Fields of study are expected to focus primarily on art Campus Kinugasa Campus Certification Programs Curator   ■Outline of the Graduate School of Science in Arts and Design (tentative name) Name Graduate School of Science in Arts and Design Date of Establishment April 2026 Enrollment Capacity Master's program: 20 * We envision establishing a one-year program primarily for working adults and a two-year program Doctoral program: 5 Intake Capacity Master's program: 40 Doctoral program: 15 Degree Names Master of Science in Arts and Design Doctor of Science in Arts and Design Fields of Study Fields of study are expected to focus primarily on art Campus Kinugasa Campus   Related Issue GLA Collaborates with Ritsumeikan Keisho High School and St… March 15, 2023 [An opportunity to think about your student life] ”Firs… June 14, 2021 College of Pharmaceutical Sciences Offers Online Exchange P… May 17, 2021 NEXT March 11, 2024 NEWS Ritsumeikan University Commencement Ceremonies Academic year 2023 (to be held in March 2024) (2nd Notice) Notice 2024 Jan Feb Mar Apr 2023 Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2022 Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2021 Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2020 Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2019 Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2018 Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2017 Jan Feb Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2016 Mar Apr May June July Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec Admissions & Aid Current Students Alumni Visitors & Partners Portal System for Faculty & Staff Researcher Database Access Campus Map Text-To-Speech and Other Support Tools Contact Japanese Chinese Site Map Ritsumeikan University site in the search form Site Policy Privacy Policy © Ritsumeikan Univ.
