Renovation work for the Migiwa Dormitory on the Imadegawa Campus completed in April 2019. At the Kyotanabe Campus, the ageing Megumi Dormitory was closed at the end of 2019, and the new Izumi Dormitory* was built in front of the main gate. It began hosting students in April 2020. All of the dormitory rooms are private rooms, based on the concepts of "safety and security" and "securing private space and time." However, in order to avoid students feeling isolated in their private rooms, the dormitory has been designed to foster interactions between the students in their daily dormitory lives. Living together with other students from all over the country presents an opportunity to meet new friends, and discover various values that differ from your own. This is a great place to live, especially for students who are from remote areas and do not have any ties with Kyoto. Dormitory Period The period of stay in the dormitory is two years from the time of admission (entry). (However, since Department of International Studies study abroad from the fall semester of the second year, the period of stay in the dormitory is until the end of the spring semester of the second year.) Migiwa Dormitory Approx. 10 minute walk from the Imadegawa Campus. Located in an extremely convenient, quiet residential area, where the Kamogawa River flows to the east. Address: Kyoto-shi, Kamigyo-ku, Kawaramachi-dori Imadegawa Sagaru Higashi-iru Capacity: 74 students Migiwa Dormitory Facility/Equipment Introduction Izumi Dormitory* Newly completed, and in a good location facing the school road in front of the main gate of the Kyotanabe Campus. Address: Kyotanabe-shi, Miyamaki Tenjinyama 41-12 Capacity: 127 students Izumi Dormitory Facility/Equipment Introduction *The Izumi Dormitory takes its name from the Bible. In Bible culture, which was born from a desolate natural environment, a spring was considered the source of life and a symbol of salvation. “Izumi” is the Japanese word for spring. The new dormitory will be a place for each student who takes her first steps into university life to rediscover herself through meeting various friends, and lead to the joy of seeking out the truth. Also, as the name “Izumi” suggests, we hope that it will be a place where rich and fulfilling fellowships can be created.
