Global Insights Series Global Insights is a weekly live-streamed panel series that brings together researchers, policymakers and planners from around the world in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, in light of the global epidemic from various countries' perspectives regions of the world. Leading institutions worldwide, including our joint degree partner, American University, participate in the program. Institutions Balsllie School of International Affairs (Canada), The Department of Politics & International Studies at the University of Warwick (UK) The School of International Service at American University (USA) The Institute of Strategic Affairs in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) The Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Konstanz (Germany) The College and Graduate School of International Relations at Ritsumeikan University (Japan) Global Insight Series The Global Impact of the US Election Visiting Professor Yabunaka Mitoji (Former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan) took the stage to discuss the US presidential election's impact and its outcome on the international community with researchers from the US, UK and Canada. From the various point of view, there was a lively discussion on the impact on international relations, including the EU, Japan and Asia. The Global Impact of the US Election Who Decides? Misinformation and Election Interference Themes such as "Fake News," which was a major topic of the presidential election, and its impact on society were discussed. From Ritsumeikan University, Professor Koga Browes Scott, who specializes in Media and Journalism, participated in the discussion, introduce Japan's contexts. Who Decides? Misinformation and Election Interference Practical Measures Supporting Climate Change Mitigation Professor Nishimura Tomoaki, who specializes in (International Law, International Environmental Law) joined the discussion on “Climate Change Mitigation” including include the topic of “Paris Agreement” which US President Trump declared the withdrawal. Professor Nishimura introduced Japan’s government policy with experts from the US. UK and Canada. Practical Measures Supporting Climate Change Mitigation The Future of Work in a Post-COVID-19 World “The Future of Work in a Post-Coronavirus” world was discussed by research experts from the US, UK, Canada and Japan. From the College of International Relations IR, Prof. Professor Tsujimoto Toshiko joined the discussion.In addition to the domestic labor market and changes to remote work, global issues such as the impact on migrant workers were also introduced as discussion points. The Future of Work in a Post-COVID-19 World Racism, Anti-oppression, and International Affairs Professor Toriyama Junko participated in a discussion on "Racism, Anti-oppression, and International Affairs" with researchers from North America. “BLM” and its impact were discussed, and the topic of Japan was also addressed.
